Social Studies 9 Essay
1. Review pg 167 - the Objectives of the Immigration Act:
-Pursue social, cultural and economic benefits for all Canadians
-Respect the bilingual and multicultural character of Canada
-Support the development of minority official language communities in Canada
-Share the benefits of immigration and support a prosperous economy across all regions of Canada
-Reunite families in Canada
-Promote the successful integration of immigrants into Canadian society, recognizing that integration involves mutual obligations for new immigrants and Canadian society.
2. Choose any three objectives and explore, critique and review each in the body paragraphs of an essay.
3. Tuesday is a planning and conferencing day, Wednesday is a work period.
I would like your essays at the beginning of class on Thursday, if possible. Please let me know if you need more time.

Weekly update
Grade 9 Language Arts students screened Secret Path last week and worked to analyze song lyrics. Today they were assigned a response. CLICK HERE for assignment sheet.
Grade 8 Language Arts students have been working on finalizing rants. We will showcase these in class this week, along with Outsiders scenes.
Grade 9 Social Studies students are completing a jigsaw activity where small groups of students are responsible for completing a presentation on one of the treaties discussed in Chapter 4. Presentations will begin on Monday. CLICK HERE for assignment sheet.
